YC Says @ YC

YC Says @ YC

YC Says! is an initiative spearheaded by the Yuan Ching Secondary School English Department to provide public speaking opportunities for students during the morning assembly. The intent is to foster a culture of confident speakers and to provide an avenue for them to present contemporary and relatable issues to their peers. Agency is given to aspiring speakers, who conduct research on their topics of choice and draft and practice their own speeches with minimal guidance from their English teachers.

Speakers Corner @ YC

Speakers Corner is an initiative by the Humanities Talent Development Team (HTD) to enculturate the art of public speaking. This student-driven project features sustainable thinking disposition as the focal point of conversations. The goal of this event is to provide a hospitable and comfortable environment for our students to discuss hot-button issues with their fellow peers in a respectful and constructive manner. This Speakers Corner @ YC is conceived along the lines of the Open Space Technology (OST) method and in the spirit of  ‘The Law of Two Feet’, where student-audience will be able to freely move from one discussion group to another discussion group.

Math Whiz @YC

Math Whiz @ YC

The Math Whiz Challenge (MWC), founded in 2022, was initiated in an effort to elevate mathematical thinking and foster a culture of intellectual curiosity amongst Yuan Ching students. This initiative has engaged students in mind-boggling puzzles that go beyond the traditional realms of textbook problem-solving. For 2 years, it has garnered enthusiastic participation from students across all levels, from Secondary 1 to 5, creating a vibrant atmosphere of friendly competition and collaborative problem-solving.

MWC unfolds each school term with the unveiling of three Math logical puzzles that beckon students to delve into the depths of critical thinking. The selected puzzles are carefully curated to stimulate students' problem-solving skills and encourage them to explore the beauty and complexity of Mathematics beyond the classroom. Hence, each school term brings a new set of challenges, ensuring that students remain captivated and continuously stretch their cognitive capacities.

As we look towards the future, MWC stands as a testament to the schools' commitment to nurturing well-rounded, critical thinkers. It exemplifies our dedication to providing students with opportunities to go beyond the curriculum, encouraging them to embrace the challenges of mathematics with confidence and enthusiasm.

Our Vibrant Learning Walls

Lined along the corridors of the school are vibrant and interactive learning walls, served to engage Yuan Ching students beyond the confines of their classrooms, and to help mould them to be Confident and Engaged Owners (CEOs) of their learning. Students are free to interact with the content on the walls, each revolving around a particular subject.
